For the past year, MacGregor and MacDuff have had Prostate Cancer UK as our chosen charity.
Facts about prostate cancer:
- 1 in 8 men in the UK will get prostate cancer at some point in their lives
- Every hour, one man in the UK dies from prostate cancer
- 3,000 men in Scotland are diagnosed with prostate cancer each year
Prostate Cancer UK was founded in 1996 by Professor Jonathan Waxman. They were the first national organisation for prostate cancer in the UK and their vision was to improve the care of those suffering from the disease, increase investment in research and raise awareness of what was then a socially neglected disease.
Over the past 20 years, they’ve invested £37 million into research.
Over the past year, our staff members have walked the Kiltwalk and the West Highland Way, had a bake sale, and continued fundraising efforts in-store for Prostate Cancer UK. This week, to celebrate Men’s Health Week, we are donating £1 for every hire booked up until the end of the week! All together we have raised over £2000 for Prostate Cancer UK and we’re looking forward to more fundraising activities in the coming year.
