No however, all other tartans are available to buy from just £199.
What measurements do I need for hiring a kilt outfit?
We need 4 basic measurements from you. We need your waist size (above the navel), your chest size (loose measurement round the chest), your height, and your collar size. All of these sizes should be in inches as we always work in inches. http://www.macgregorandmacduff.co.uk/kilt_sizes.htm
We also require your shoe size for kilt hire.
How do I carry out these measurements?

For the waist measurement we want a fairly snug measurement around the widest part of the stomach above the navel. For the chest measurement we want a loose measurement under the arms circling the chest area. For the collar measurement we want a fairly neat measurement around the neck, roughly where the adam’s apple is situated.

What discounts do you have available?
Our wedding party discount offers the most expensive hire to go free for every 5 hires booked. We also offer the following discounts:
* Glasgow City Council: 25% off hire, 10% off sales, 15% off accessories
* Police & Ambulance: 10% off hire, 5% off accessories
* Fire Service: 10% off hire, 5% off accessories
* MacGregor & MacDuff Membership No: 10% off hire, 5% off sales, 5% off accessories
* NHS: 25% off hire, 10% off sales, 10% off accessories
* Snapfax: 20% off hire (40% in Nov and Jan - excludes all £49 hires)
* Spree: £10 off hire
* Student Discount: 20% off hire with student card.
All our discounts can be assigned to group bookings except for our Snapfax, Spree and student discounts. Our discounts are also unavailable on our Prince Charlie with bow tie, Childrens and Ghillie Shirt outfits. They have already been discounted.
When can I collect my hire items?
Our hire items are usually available for collection on Wednesdays after 4pm, Thursdays and Fridays after 2pm. Collections can be arranged on other days of the week depending on the day of your event.
When should I bring my hire items back?
Most items are due back on a Sunday if your event falls on the weekend. If it does not fall on a weekend, we’ll discuss return times with you. If you wish to return the items on a Monday there is a charge associated with this unless your circumstances absolutely don’t allow the return of your items.
Do I need identification on collection?
We require that you bring a credit card in your name on collection. A passport, driving licence or debit card is not sufficient. The reason we have to ask you for a credit card is in case of loss or damage. Unfortunately in the past we have had certain individuals lose, steal or damage our property and this measure is to safeguard against this. Other companies offer an insurance policy for a fee but we feel this is extra expense for you that is often unnecessary.
Will you charge my credit card?
We will only charge your credit card if you lose, damage or thieve any items whilst you have them on hire.
Where do you keep my credit card details?
We keep your credit card details in a locked safe in store. No one has access to them except our Managers.
Do you hire charcoal grey socks?
We do hire charcoal grey socks, but only for adults.
Do you do kilt alterations?
We do offer kilt alterations. Depending on your requirements, we can normally offer 2 solutions. We can move the buckles on your kilt to move the waist size up or down, which would normally cost £15-20. Solution 2 is to have the kilt remade to your new size. This normally costs approximately £160.
Do you sell boys kilts and accessories?
We do sell boys kilts on a made to measure basis. We also sell a range of boys’ accessories, not all of which are featured on the website. Please contact us by email or in one of our stores for more details.
How far in advance do I have to book my kilt hire?
It is advisable to book at least 2-3 months in advance to avoid disappointment.
Do I have to book an appointment to be measured?
No. You can walk in to our stores at any time to be measured. We also run a special service for grooms – you can arrange a groom fitting so that you can try on the full outfit(s) you wish to hire in order to try it out and make your decision. This service is by appointment only.
How much do I have to pay when I book a kilt hire?
The kilt hire deposit is £20 per person
Can I pay for my kilt hire online?
Unfortunately at the moment we do not offer this service. Please contact one of our stores to make a kilt hire payment.

Do you offer a 'last minute' kilt hire service?
We have an excellent reputation for being able to supply last minute kilt hire and, as we own all our hire stock, supplying you with your preferred tartan should not be a problem at short notice.
How long does it take for a full kilt outfit to be made?
It takes 6-8 weeks to have a full kilt outfit made. Moreover, this time period can increase during peak times. We can occasionally have your kilt ready for you in a shorter period in extreme circumstances.
Are your ex-hire kilts good quality?
Our ex-hire kilts are excellent quality, medium or heavy weight kilts. Many of our exhire kilts are brand new and have never been worn but simply were not required in our hire range. Some have been worn on one or more occasion so may not be in as good condition as new, but they are priced according to condition.
Can I hire a kilt for an extended period of time?
Yes. We cannot publish prices on the website for extended hires because it really does depend on the exact dates you require the items for. Many of our customers do, however hire kilts for weddings or holidays abroad so we understand the need to do this. Please contact us at
